YORK – The Catawba Ridge girls golf team won the Region 3-4A title at Spring Lake Country Club in York Monday.

The Copperheads shot a 323 in the 18-hole tournament, a new team record, as they were led by Katherine Mann who shot a three under 69 on the par 72 course.

Mann along with teammates Eileen Zeoli and Kate Gilmer were named to the All-Region team and head coach Mickey Joslin was named Region Coach of the Year.

Following Mann’s score was a 76 from Zeoli and an 82 from Gilmer. Reagan Lynch finished out the scoring for the Copperheads as she shot a 96.

York finished second on their home course shooting a 429 and South Pointe was third with a 459. The tournament was originally scheduled for Oct. 11 at Fort Mill Golf Club, but had to be moved because of a scheduling conflict with the golf course.

Catawba Ridge now turns its attention to the next big match, the 4A Upper State tournament, which will be held in two weeks at The Links at Stoney Pointe in Greenwood Oct. 18. The top eight teams in the Upper State tournament will advance to the state tournament held Oct. 25 and 26 at the Crescent Pointe Golf Course in Bluffton.
