Fort Mill Prep Sports
Fort Mill Prep Sports is the creation of lifetime resident and longtime local sports reporter Mac Banks. It was launched in October, 2019 to fill the void created by cutbacks in local coverage of high school sports in the area.

Mac Banks is a 20-year veteran of the newspaper industry. He founded the Banks Media Group, LLC in August 2019, starting the www.fortmillprepsports.com website to serve Fort Mill Township by covering local high school sports.
Banks is a longtime sports reporter, covering local state and national sporting events primarily for the Rock Hill Herald and Fort Mill Times. Most recently, he has joined the OTS Sports Network, performing color commentary at high school football games for WRHI and their sister stations.
He has won more than 55 awards from the South Carolina Press Association for his writing, photography, and video skills; and also won the 2007 President’s Award from McClatchy Newspaper Corporation.
In addition to sports writing, he authored and self-published a book, Faces of Hope: A Journey Inside an African Orphanage, from his personal experiences traveling in Africa.
Banks has a Master’s degree in Sports Management from Liberty University and Bachelor degrees in Journalism and History from Winthrop University.

David Thackham
David Thackham is a freelance correspondent for Fort Mill Prep Sports. He has covered high school athletics over the past six years between South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. After graduating from Winthrop University in 2014, he served for two years as a full-time prep sports reporter for the Gainesville (Ga.) Times. He has since provided freelance high school sports coverage for local newspapers and online outlets.
John Turner
John Turner has been covering prep sports in Fort Mill for more than a decade. Turner is best known for being the voice of the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets in baseball, softball and basketball as the school’s public address announcer and broadcaster. He also broadcast high school football during the fall for WRHI as part of the OTS Sports Network doing both color commentating and play-by-play assignments.
