For Fort Mill it was like old hat, while for Catawba Ridge it was a first.

The Jackets girls swim team won their 13 consecutive region swim title and the boys won their 12th in 13 years claiming the Region 3-5A titles Saturday morning. Catawba Ridge boys and girls swim teams won the Region 3-4A swim titles Saturday afternoon as both meets were held at the Fort Mill Aquatics Center.

In the 4A meet, Catawba Ridge girls scored 432 points and the boys scored 448 points, as they broke South Pointe’s streak of six consecutive region titles. South Pointe finished runners-up to the Copperheads for both the boy’s and girl’s rankings.

The Copperheads won two of the six relay events taking the boys’ 200-yard medley and freestyle relay. Indian Land and South Pointe each won two of the other four relays.

Individual winners for Catawba Ridge were:

Alexander Ritz – boys’ 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke

Jake Root – boys’ 200-yard individual medley

Ethan Curtis – boys’ 100-yard butterfly

Isabella Meehan – girls’ 100-yard backstroke

In the 5A meet, Fort Mill girls scored 380 points with Nation Ford coming in second with 317 points. The Yellow Jacket boys scored 360 points with Nation Ford following them in second with 227 points. Nation Ford won the girls’ 200-yard medley and freestyle relays, while Fort Mill won the boys’ 200-yard freestyle and both the girls’ and boys’ 400-yard freestyles.

Individuals winning for Fort Mill in the region meet were:

Olivia Corbi – girls’ 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle

Anna Kate Halligan – girls’ 200-yard individual medley

Max Reichert – boys’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly

Zachary Nelson – boys’ 100-yard freestyle

Cadyn Henson – girls’ 100-yard breaststroke

Individuals winning for Nation Ford were:

Emily Eaton – girls’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle

Mackenzie Riga – girls’ 100-yard butterfly

Sophia Bujoreanu – girls’ 100-yard backstroke

Up next for all three local teams is the state championship meets Oct. 9 and 11 in North Charleston Aquatic Center. The 4A and 5A girls meets are Oct. 9 and the 4A and 5A boys meets are Oct. 11.
