The Catawba Ridge boys’ soccer team clinched the Region 3-4A title with a 3-0 shutout of Indian Land Friday at the Pit.

The win put the Copperheads at 16-2 overall and 8-0 in the region as they clinch the number one seed in the playoffs. The win was more important than just a region title, but it gave Catawba Ridge home field advantage through the playoffs. It was also the 75th win of head coach Phillip McCarter’s career.

After a scoreless first half, Caden Tull put two shots in the back of the net and Zach Zawlocki added a third goal for Catawba Ridge in the win.

The Copperheads have next week off after finishing their region schedule and now turn their attention to several 5A schools in Gaffney, Clover, Blythewood and Fort Mill to finish off the regular season.

In other soccer related news, the Catawba Ridge girls dropped their first region game of the season to Indian Land losing 2-0. The loss drops them to 7-1 to finish their region schedule and 11-3 overall.

However, the loss doesn’t allow them to win the region title outright as they will now share it with Indian Land who still has one more region game against a winless Lancaster team. If the Warriors win that game, they would share the title with Catawba Ridge as they would both sit at 7-1.
