Nation Ford’s Ben Mills hits a putt on the first green of the Carolina Pines course at Tega Cay Golf Club.

The Nation Ford boys golf team edged Fort Mill at the Tega Cay Golf Club Thursday to give them their first dual loss of the season.

Nation Ford won 163-164 as they were led by Ben Mills who shot a three under par 33. Justin Wosje shot a 41 and was followed with a 44 from Matt Bowman and a 45 from Ben Wakefield. The Falcons are now 5-2 overall in dual matches.

Fort Mill was led by Ryan Patterson with a 40 as Alex Martin and Cade Bettie each shot a 41. Baker Tolentino finished with a 42 for the Jackets. The Jackets No. 1 golfer Cam Baker withdrew on the fifth hole with an injury. The loss drops Fort Mill to 5-1 in dual matches on the season.

Fort Mill finished their home matches and will now be on the road for the rest of the season. They will next play at Clover April 19 and then in the first ever Falcon Cup at the Palisades Golf Club April 20. They will have another shot at Nation Ford April 28 when they play at Springfield Golf Club.

Nation Ford heads to the Palmetto High School Golf Championships next week at the Caledonia Golf Club in Pawleys Island.

On Wednesday, the Catawba Ridge boys’ tennis team beat Indian Land 6-0 to claim the Region 3-4A title. Winning for the Copperheads were Devin Hartzog, Eric Finley, Aiden Liles, Charlie Gallagher, Sammy Mullis, Cade Gainey and Koen Tesamale.
