Catawba Ridge’s Alex Johnson won the 215-pound weight class at the Kingsley Classic.

Both Fort Mill and Catawba Ridge had wrestlers come away from the Kingsley Classic with titles.

Fort Mill finished second overall behind Kellam (Va.) by 12 points. Kellam had 233.5 points with the Jackets garnering 221.5. Catawba Ridge finished ninth with 99.5 points and Nation Ford finished 11th with 62 points. There were 16 teams in the tournament.

Lucas Van Beynum (113) and Jacob Nally (120) won their respective weight classes for Fort Mill. Van Beynum beat Lake Norman’s Ryder Menard 5-2 in the finals and Nally won 2-1 over Eastside’s Drayton Johnson.

Catawba Ridge’s Alex Johnson beat Eastside’s Lucas Tankersley 7-1 at 215-pounds to win that weight class.

Fort Mill also had four other finalists with Brody Harris (106), Lincoln Greene (138), Broden Mitcheson (157), and Jonathan DaSilva (hwt.) all finishing in second place in their respective weight classes. Greene picked up his 100th career win during the tournament as well.

In the consolation finals, Nation Ford’s Easton Ruth beat Catawba Ridge’s Jacob McClure by tech fall 15-0 at 106-pounds. Ruth was the Falcons’ highest place finisher in third.

Fort Mill had a third-place finisher as well in Jayden Nguyen at 144-pounds as he beat Brandon Jordan of Uwharrie Charter 7-4 in the consolation finals for that weight class.

The Jackets had three wrestlers place fourth in the tournament in Tucker Gibson (132), Keenan Coston (150) and Ted Ernst (190).  Catawba Ridge had two wrestlers finish fourth in the tournament in Taylon Winker (113) and Archer Rozelle (157).
