The Fort Mill Post 43 Juniors won their home opener and took the season series over York Post 66.
Fort Mill beat York 7-1 improving to 2-0 on the season. Post 43’s Matt Scott took the mound for Fort Mill in their home opener of the 2025 season.
Fort Mill wasn’t able to get anything going in the bottom of the first, but in the top of the second inning, was able to get a second consecutive double play to get out of the inning.
In the bottom of the second, Noah Burt got Post 43’s first hit with a single. Burt took second on a throwing error and Connor Fowler doubled him in to give Fort Mill a 1-0 lead.
Post 43 kept rolling in the third as Eli Wilson reached on an error making it to second base. Blake Chatman knocked in Wilson on a sacrifice to double up the Fort Mill score.
In the top of the fourth, two doubles by York gave them a run.
Post 43 got that back in the fifth and then some. Eli Cheske started the inning with a single. Chatman and Cooper Diehl both walked and then a sacrifice fly by Brayden Grogan gave Fort Mill another run. An error allowed Diehl to score.
Fox Thorpe took the mound in the sixth inning for Post 43. Scott went five innings allowing one run on three hits. He didn’t allow a walk and struck out two.
In the bottom of the sixth, Fowler hit a one out double. Then back-to-back walks by Michael Caropreso and Cheske loaded the bases before a pitching change by York.
Fowler and Caropreso scored on wild pitches to make it 7-1. Fowler led at the plate going 2-3 with an RBI.
Thorpe would go two innings allowing two hits and striking out two.
Post 43 will travel back to York Comprehensive High School on Thursday for the series finale.

The Fort Mill Post 43 seniors fell to Union County Post 535 out of North Carolina by a score of 13-2. Union County scored eight runs in the first two innings to jump out to a big start and never looked back. The Post 43 seniors dropped to 1-1 on the season and will host Winnsboro Post 16 again on June 4.
