High School Baseball in Fort Mill

A rally in the sixth inning saw Fort Mill Post 43 Juniors score four runs to get a 9-7 win over Rock Hill Post 34 to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Bradyn Deaton singled to score two runs with a tied 7-7 game in the bottom of the sixth to give Post 43 the go ahead runs they needed for the win.

The game went back-and-forth for the most part with Rock Hill taking an early 2-0 lead through the top of the third, before Post 43 scored four runs in the bottom of the third. Despite being out hit by Rock Hill, Fort Mill got the timely hits they needed in the game.

Alex Smith went 2-3 to lead Post 43 and both Deaton and Brayden Hampton had two RBI. Fort Mill added a run in the fourth inning, but Rock Hill would go back on top 6-5 in the top of the fifth with a four-run inning of their own.

Rock Hill would add a run in the sixth inning to make it 7-5 before the rally in the bottom half of the inning.

On the mound, JB Walters got the win pitching one inning and allowing just one run on three hits. Brody Owens started the game and went four innings allowing two runs on one hit. On top of the game winning hit, Deaton would also get the save pitching the top of the seventh inning and striking out one.

Up next for Fort Mill is a home game at Nation Ford against Buford on Thursday.

Seniors take lumps at Rock Hill

A day after making it back to .500, the Post 43 Seniors struggled mightily against Rock Hill Post 34 falling 12-3 on the back of giving up nine walks and five Fort Mill errors.

Greyson Wild got the loss on the mound and Post 43 managed just seven hits. Dusty Sanderlin led going 2-2 and Rylee Ashworth went 1-3 with three RBI.  

Fort Mill opened the game going up 3-0, but would give up 12 unanswered runs for the remainder of the game. Rock Hill tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the second and then scored six runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth inning.

Post 43 drops to 2-3 overall and will travel to Chester Post 27 Thursday in an effort to bounce back. Fort Mill returns home to Catawba Ridge Friday.
