The Nation Ford girls’ tennis team topped the Catawba Ridge Copperheads in their first meeting of the season.

Nation Ford beat Catawba Ridge 4-2 and are now 4-0 on the season.

Winning for Nation Ford was No. 1 singles player Ansley McDonald 6-2, 6-1 over Skylar White for the Copperheads. The Falcons No. 2 player Piper Land won 6-2, 6-3 over Catawba Ridge’s Gracyn Root.

Catawba Ridge’s Abby Russell beat the Falcons’ Jiya Guntuboyina 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, but Eva Mabey for Nation Ford won at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-3 over the Copperheads’ Kaitlyn Wood.

Nation Ford’s Tejal Guntuboyina won at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-3 over Jane Rohrmeier for the Copperheads.

Catawba Ridge did win the only doubles match as Elaina Beilstein and Brooklynn Schuyler won 6-2, 6-1 over the Falcons’ Ella McCullough and Claire Kaltenbach.

Sept. 16 Roundup

The Catawba Ridge boys’ volleyball team beat Nation Ford 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-20) to improve to 4-0 in Region 3-5A and 12-3 overall. Nation Ford dropped to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the region.

The Nation Ford girls’ volleyball team beat Catawba Ridge 3-1 (26-24, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19) to improve to 14-4 overall and 4-0 in region. The Copperheads dropped to 10-6 overall and 3-1 in the region.

The Fort Mill boys’ volleyball team improved to 4-7 overall with a 3-1 win over Blythewood. Fort Mill won 25-16, 25-17, 15-25, 25-15 in the non-region match-up.

The Nation Ford girls’ golf team split matches with South Pointe and Northwestern. The Falcons beat South Pointe 201-228 but fell to Northwestern 186-201. Leading the way for Nation Ford was Layla Wilson with a 49. Ava Doan shot a 50 and Mary Kate Quinlan shot a 51. Sydney Pounds finished with a 52 for the Falcons.

The Fort Mill swim teams beat Clover, South Pointe, and Northwestern in a four-way meet. Fort Mill boys’ swim team beat Northwestern 137-33, Clover 123-47, and South Pointe 131-27. The girls’ team beat Clover 120-50, South Pointe 140-12, and Northwestern 138-31. Individual winners for the Jackets were Lila Hadley (200-yard free), Parker Hightower (200-yard free), Bella Corbi (200-yard IM and 100-yard free), Turner Wiand (200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke), Dominic Impens (50-yard free and 100-yard breaststroke), Tate Preston (100-yard fly), David Halligan (100-yard free), Lily Lindgren (500-yard free), Julia Corbi (100-yard back), Haruka Ono (100-yard breaststroke).
