Fort Mill’s Chase Hammond participates in the pole vault Saturday during the final part of the Region 3-5 meet that was delayed until Saturday and had to be finished at Fort Mill High. Hammond finished second in the event.

Both Fort Mill and Nation Ford split the Region 3-5A track titles recently as the meet had a delayed finish which caused the outcome to be put on hold.

The meet was held Thursday in Boiling Springs, but the boys’ pole vault portion of the meet was delayed until Saturday at Fort Mill High. Going into the last event, the Nation Ford boys led by eight points. The Fort Mill girls already locked up the Region title at Boiling Springs during the regular portion of the meet. Fort Mill girls scored 123 points and Nation Ford was second with 109 points.

After the Saturday boys’ pole vault competition, Clover came away with the win in the event, but Nation Ford locked up the region championship with 113 points, followed by Fort Mill with 110 points.

The majority of the meet was dominated by both Nation Ford and Fort Mill as each school had multiple winners. In the relay events, Fort Mill won both the boys 4×400 and 4×800, while Nation Ford won the boys 4×100 events. On the other hand, for the girls, Nation Ford won the 4×100 and 4×400, while Fort Mill won the 4×800 events.

Girls 100-meters – Sierra Smith, 12.21

Girls 400-meters – Alyse Davis, 1:01.43

Girls 800-meters – Mia Royall, 2:26.01

Girls 400-meter hurdles – Sierra Smith, 1:07.88

Girls long jump – Lael Valdez, 16’6.5”
