Post 43’s Lane Boutwell hits a single during Fort Mill’s game against Rock Hill Post 34 Tuesday evening at Catawba Ridge High.

The Fort Mill Post 43 senior team for the second consecutive game failed to get the hits needed to produce runs as they fell to the second ranked Rock Hill Post 34 Tuesday night.

Post 34 beat Fort Mill 2-1 dropping Post 43 to 2-5 overall on the season, as Fort Mill struggled getting just four hits in the game.

Another decent pitching performance for Post 43 was spoiled for Fort Mill as starter Dusty Sanderlin went six innings and allowed just two runs, one earned on seven hits, while striking out six and walking three.

Things looked promising for Post 43 in the early going as they scored their only run in the bottom of the first off two Rock Hill errors. Fort Mill didn’t get a hit that inning, but did hold a 1-0 lead until the top of the second where Rock Hill tied the game.

Rock Hill would add another run in the top of the third to take the 2-1 lead, which was the decisive run of the game.

Post 43 didn’t get their first hit of the game until the fourth inning when Alexander Steckler singled. Wyatt Wilson and Lane Boutwell would also single, as Fort Mill had their best opportunity to score leaving the bases loaded to end the inning.

Rock Hill would continue to get base runners on, but Sanderlin worked his way out of jams on more than one occasion with the help of a double play. Fort Mill did get a base runner in the sixth inning as Drew Endres would single, but a double play ended things for Post 43 without them getting a run across.

Post 43 will try to correct its path playing at home at Catawba Ridge Wednesday against Chester Post 27 at 7 p.m.

Juniors fall to Rock Hill

The Fort Mill Post 43 juniors fell 5-4 to Rock Hill Post 34 for their first loss of the season and are now 6-1 on the season.

Rock Hill walked the game off in the bottom of the seventh on a fielder’s choice to score the winning run with the bases loaded. JB Walters got the loss on the mound allowing a run on two hits, while walking one and striking out three.

Post 43 struggled with only three hits and got all four of their runs in the top of the third. Adrian Cattarin went 1-3 with two RBI and Brody Owens went 1-2 with an RBI for Fort Mill.

Rock Hill took an early 1-0 lead and then added three more in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 4-4, where it would remain that way until the bottom of the seventh.
