From left, back row, Keegan Brown, Dusty Sanderlin, Kam Moyers and Brian Stapleton, along with front row, from left, Regan Hodge, Blythe Barrington-Hughes and Natalie Grace Decker all signed for Fort Mill during their spring signing day Thursday.

The spring signing day for the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets saw seven athletes sign letters of commitment to participate in athletics at the next level.

Fort Mill had two golfers, two baseball players, a football player, a runner, and a dancer all signed Thursday.

“This is something we enjoy doing at Fort Mill High School,” said Principal Gales Scroggs. “They have represented us so well.”

The two golfers signing were Keegan Brown, who will be playing at Spartanburg Methodist, and Blythe Barrington-Hughes, who will be playing at St. Norbert College, just outside of Green Bay, Wisc. Brown has been playing on the golf team for the past six seasons since he was in the seventh grade. He competes in the S.C. Junior Golf Association and Carolina Golf Association events all over the Carolinas. Barrington-Hughes has been a member for the past five years of the Jackets girls’ team and has been playing since the eighth grade. She has played all over the country and trains at the Dana Radar Academy in Charlotte.

For the Fort Mill program, this is the fourth golfer the Jackets have had sign this year.

“It is awesome,” said Fort Mill golf coach Judd Dye. “We have had several guys in the past sign, but it builds upon itself. This is the largest class we have had sign.”

The two baseball players signing were Dusty Sanderlin and Brian Stapleton. Sanderlin will be going to Florence-Darlington Tech and Stapleton will be going to Methodist University. Sanderlin has been a two-year starter for the Jackets and when he isn’t in the outfield, he is toeing the rubber for Fort Mill. He has a 3-0 record this year with a 1.52 ERA. He also is hitting .313 at the plate with two home runs and 14 RBI.

Stapleton switches between first base and the mound and has a 0.00 ERA in five and two-thirds innings this year. He has been playing travel baseball for several organizations and has played since he was 4-years-old.

“These are two great kids,” said Fort Mill head baseball coach Travis Collier. “It has been great to watch them grow and evolve.”

Kam Moyers will be playing football at Limestone University and has played football for two years with Fort Mill. He missed the majority of his senior season with an injury, that also kept him from wrestling. He was an All-Region selection his junior year as a defensive end.

Regan Hodge will be going to Appalachian State University to run track and cross-country. She has ran cross country for six years and ran track for four, along with playing basketball for four years as well. She was named to the All-Region team in the 4×800 relay and has competed in seven state championship meets so far for the Jackets.

Natalie Grace Decker will be attending the University of Mississippi as part of their dance team.  A four-year member of the Fort Mill dance team, she has competed on the national scene and been a part of 10 first place regional finishes between 2017 and 2020. She has danced competitively for 13 years.
