Fort Mill’s MacKenzie Finn hits a shot on the fifth hole of the Carolina Pines course at Tega Cay Golf Club Wednesday.

TEGA CAY – In their first head-to-head match of the season, the Fort Mill girls golf team beat Catawba Ridge at Tega Cay Golf Club.

Fort Mill shot a 178 on its home course on the Carolina Pines course in Tega Cay, as the Copperheads came in with a 187 as a team. The Carolina Pines course plays 2,359-yards from the ladies’ tees and is a par 38.

The Jackets were led by a 42 from MacKenzie Finn, followed by a 44 from Kinsley Delcourt and a pair of 46s from Emily Broshious and Cayla Cappuzzo.

Catawba Ridge was led by Katherine Mann with a 41, as she was medalist for the match. Eileen Zeoli was four shots behind her with a 45. Reagan Lynch shot a 49 for the Copperheads and Kate Gilmer finished with a 52 to round out the scoring.

Fort Mill finished 10th out of 18 in their season debut earlier in the week at the Lady Bengal Invitational at the Columbia Country Club. Finn led the Jackets with an 86 in the 18-hole tournament to finish 25th overall.

The Jackets are now 1-0 on the season, while Catawba Ridge drops to 2-1 on the year. Fort Mill’s next scheduled match is Aug. 31 against Nation Ford at Tega Cay Golf Club. Catawba Ridge’s next match is again against Fort Mill Sept. 2 at Fort Mill Golf Club.
