Both Fort Mill and Catawba Ridge swim teams kicked off the 2023 swim season with a four team meet Tuesday at the Fort Mill Aquatics Center.

The Fort Mill boys and girls swept the meet beating the other three teams to open their season 3-0. Catawba Ridge went 1-2 for both the boy’s and girl’s teams at the meet beating South Pointe, but losing to Fort Mill and Clover.

The Fort Mill boys beat South Pointe 134-29; Clover 131-39; and Catawba Ridge 137-39.  The Fort Mill girls beat South Pointe 140-15; Clover 127-43; and Catawba Ridge 131-39.

Catawba Ridge boys beat South Pointe 116-47 and the Lady Copperheads beat South Pointe 140-15.

Fort Mill swept all six relay events. Individuals winning for Fort Mill were:

Olivia Corbi – girls 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle

Jack Dollyhigh – boys 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle

Lila Hadley – girls 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke

Dominic Impens – boys 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke

Turner Wiand – boys 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke

Mac Spurrier – girls 50-yard freestyle

Adrian Paredes – boys 100-yard butterfly

Ava Corbi – girls 100-yard freestyle

Amelia Meehan was the only individual winner for Catawba Ridge as she won the girls 100-yard backstroke.

Aug. 22 Roundup

The Nation Ford girls’ volleyball team swept Catawba Ridge winning 3-0 with scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-11. Nation Ford improves to 4-2 overall on the season.

The Catawba Ridge girl’s tennis team won their season opener against Rock Hill 4-3. Nala Uter won at No. 1 singles, Sydney Biggers won at No. 3 singles, Emerson Brooks won at No. 4 singles and Brooks and Gracyn Root won at No. 1 doubles to secure the win for the Copperheads.
