The Fort Mill swim team topped rivals Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge in the aquatic version of the Milltown Showdown known as the Fort Mill Fallout Thursday at the Fort Mill Aquatic Center.

The meet is the only time all season where it is just the three teams from Fort Mill Township going head-to-head without another outside party participating in the meet.  

Fort Mill won the meet beating both teams as the boys’ team beat Nation Ford 126-44 and Catawba Ridge 124-46. The Fort Mill girls’ team beat Nation Ford 115-55 and Catawba Ridge 139-31. Nation Ford boys beat Catawba Ridge 98-72 and the girls’ team also beat the Copperheads 128-42.

The Jackets won all six relay events. Individuals winning for Fort Mill in the meet were:

Olivia Corbi – girls’ 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle

Jack Dollyhigh – boys’ 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle

Max Reichert – boys’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly

Anna Kate Halligan – girls’ 200-yard individual medley

Mia Pogorzelski – girls’ 100-yard freestyle

Ava Corbi – girls’ 100-yard backstroke

Turner Wiand – boys’ 100-yard backstroke

Cadyn Henson – girls’ 100-yard breaststroke

Individual winners for Nation Ford were:

Emily Eaton – girls’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly

Nicholas Martin – boys’ 500-yard freestyle

Individual winners for Catawba Ridge were:

Alex Ritz – boys’ 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke

Up next for all three swim teams is their region meets Saturday, Oct. 1.

Golf

The Fort Mill girls golf team beat Rock Hill 175-217 in a head-to-head match at Rock Hill Country Club. Leading the way for Fort Mill was Mackenzie Finn with an even par 36. She was followed with a 41 from Cayla Cappuzzo and a 48 from Sam Benton. Caroline Player finished the scoring with a 50 for the Jackets. 

The Nation Ford girls golf team beat both Northwestern and Indian Land in a tri match. The Falcons shot a 206 as a team with Indian Land shooting a 213 and Northwestern a 218. Nation Ford was led by a 46 from Sara McCaskill and a 51 from Hadley Mark. Katie Griggs finished with a 52 and Fharren Coleman shot a 57 for Nation Ford.

The Catawba Ridge girls golf team beat South Pointe 168-220 at Waterford Country Club. They were led by Katherine Mann with a 38 and Eileen Zeoli with a 39.
