It was a bad day for tennis on Thursday.

All three local high school tennis teams fell in the first round of the playoffs quickly ending their seasons.

Nation Ford fell at home in the 5A playoffs to the Woodmont Wildcats losing 5-1. Their only win came from No. 4 singles Lauren Padgett in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. The other four singles losses by Nation Ford were in straight sets as well. The No. 2 doubles match for the Falcons went three sets with Ansley McDonald and Piper Land falling 1-6, 6-3, 8-10.

Nation Ford came into the playoffs a three seed and were match up against another three seed in Woodmont. The Falcons finished their season at 9-7 overall.

Fort Mill opened their playoffs on the road in Greenville County against the JL Mann Patriots falling 6-0.  Fort Mill lost each of its matches in straight sets. Only No. 5 singles Hannah Swainey for Fort Mill had a close match as she forced a first set tie breaker before losing.

Fort Mill was a four seed and had to face a two seed in the Patriots. The Jackets finished their season at 9-7 overall as well.

Catawba Ridge hosted a home playoff match in the 4A classification against the Eastside Eagles. The Copperheads came in as a two seed with Eastside being a three seed.

The Copperheads fell 4-2 to Eastside with Emerson Brooks and Sydney Biggers winning for Catawba Ridge. Brooks won at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-1 and Biggers won at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-3. The other matches for the Copperheads were straight set losses.

Catawba Ridge finished their season at 10-5 overall.
