High School Cross Country running in Fort Mill, SC

Both the boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams for Fort Mill won a three-way meet against rival Nation Ford and Boiling Springs.

Fort Mill girls got a score of 25, with Nation Ford coming in with a score of 35 and Boiling Springs scoring an 82.

Nation Ford’s Katie Pou won the girls’ race in 19:50 followed by Ansley Archuleta in second in 20:56, but Fort Mill took the next five places to grab the win. Alivia Cleveland came in third overall in 21:14 for Fort Mill followed by Avery Moriarty in fourth in 21:20. Elise Barradale was fifth in 21:25 and Angel Kravitz was sixth in 21:33 for the Jackets. Round out the scoring for Fort Mill was Regan Hodge in seventh overall in 21:40.

The three final placers for the Falcons were eighth place Mia Royall in 21:44, Marysa Brenner in 11th in 22:06 and Jordyn Battle in 17th in 23:00.

In the boys’ race, Fort Mill won with a score of 25 followed by a 44 from Nation Ford and 77 from Boiling Springs.

Like in the girls’ race, Nation Ford took the top honor with Connor O’Flynn winning in 16:41. However, history repeated itself as Fort Mill swept the next five spots finishing second through sixth.

Devon Sibley was second for Fort Mill with a time of 16:53, followed by Alec Lootens in 16:56 in third. Finishing fourth was Evan Wey in 17:18 for the Jackets and then Jackson Dawson in fifth in 17:27 and Clayton Jimson in sixth at 17:43.

Nation Ford’s Alan Dayrit was seventh in 17:49 and the other top finishers for the Falcons came in 11th through 13th. Finishing 11th was Justin Storms in 18:04 for the Falcons with Chase Johnson coming in 12th in 18:25, followed by Mason Haynes in 13th in 18:27.

Swim

The Catawba Ridge Copperheads swim team beat both York and South Pointe in a tri-meet.

Catawba Ridge boys beat York 127-15 and South Pointe 93-67, while the girls’ team beat York 133-20 and South Pointe 93-69. The Copperheads won four of the six relay events. Individual winners for Catawba Ridge was:

Alexander Ritz – boys’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle

Rielly Lavery – girls’ 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke

Ethan Curtis – boys’ 200-yard individual medley

Alex Montgomery – boys’ 100-yard butterfly

Nolan Becker – boys’ 500-yard freestyle

Sarah Sinclair – girls’ 100-yard backstroke

Preston Cooper – boys’ 100-yard breaststroke
