The Nation Ford golf team topped Catawba Ridge in their first meeting of the season.

Nation Ford won 153 to 161 in the head-to-head match at Fort Mill Golf Club on Wednesday.

The Falcons were led by a one over par 37 from Ben Wakefield. Wakefield was followed with a pair of 38s from Justin Wosje and Carter Smith and Jake Macheski closed out the scoring for Nation Ford with a 40.

Catawba Ridge was led with a one under par 35 from OT Mitchell. Hunter Warren finished with an even par 36, while Drew White shot a 44 for the Copperheads. Niam Sethi finished with a 46 to end the scoring for Catawba Ridge.

The Copperheads are now 2-2 overall on the season, while Nation Ford improved to 6-1.

March 20 Roundup

The Nation Ford softball team no-hit Spring Valley in their game with a 10-0 win at home. Paizlei Ross and Kaley Alston combined for the no-hitter for the Falcons, who offensively had 10 hits. Ross and Brook Ressler went 2-3 at the plate and Tori Baldino went 3-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Nation Ford is now 7-1 on the season and 3-0 in Region 3-5A.

The Catawba Ridge softball team beat Byrnes 7-6 as Kyrsten Reynolds won the game for the Lady Copperheads with a walk-off hit in extra innings to improve them to 12-1 overall.

The Catawba Ridge baseball team beat York 10-0 in game two of their series to avenge their loss from earlier in the week. Peyton Dhein threw five innings allowing four hits and striking out eight. Ben Wilson, Sam Schwamb and Jackson Mullen all had two hits for Catawba Ridge in the win. The Copperheads are now 9-1 on the season and 4-1 in Region 3-4A.

The Fort Mill baseball team improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in Region 3-5A with a 15-0 win over Rock Hill in game two of their three game series. Carter Blankinship went 3-3 with six RBIs as he hit two home runs and a double. Both Brent Laughter and Thomas Ealey had two RBIs in the game as well.
