Nation Ford’s Georgia Sharpless takes a shot during the Falcons match against AC Flora Thursday evening.

The Nation Ford Falcons girls’ lacrosse team had a convincing win over the AC Flora Falcons Thursday night.

Nation Ford won 24-9 as Catherine Barhorst and Georgia Sharpless scored 15 of the 24 goals in the game.

For Nation Ford head girls coach Emily Daly playing lacrosse is about having fun.

“My main thing is to have fun and get better every day,” she said. “The team culture and preseason workouts go a long way.”

Nation Ford opened the game scoring 50 seconds into play with a goal from Sharpless. Barhorst came right back 18 seconds later to give the home team a 2-0 lead.

AC Flora would bounce back to score two consecutive goals and tie the match midway through the first quarter.

After the second AC Flora goal, Nation Ford took a time out to regroup and then came out of the timeout scoring six consecutive goals.

Both Sharpless and Barhorst scored two goals in that run as well as Caitlyn Stolarek and Adria Kahre scored with a goal each.

AC Flora would add two more goals before the end of the opening period.

Sharpless and Barhorst took over the game in the second quarter as they scored all six goals for Nation Ford, with Barhorst scoring four goals and Sharpless scoring two goals. They would lead Nation Ford into the half leading 14-6.

AC Flora opened the second half scoring as Nation Ford, with the comfortable lead, was able to not be as aggressive offensively. However, that didn’t stop them from scoring as Stolarek scored her second goal of the match about midway through the third quarter. Kahre would get her second goal as well before Stolarek finished the quarter with a hat trick.

Barhorst would add two more goals and Sharpless would score her sixth goal of the match as Nation Ford took a 20-8 lead to the fourth quarter.

Reese Maidhof opened the fourth quarter scoring 1:15 into play for Nation Ford. Kamryn Laymon scored three minutes later and Stolarek added her fourth goal in the match. Canaan Ross finished out the scoring for Nation Ford scoring about 2:35 left in the match.

Nation Ford improved to 7-2 overall on the season and will host Spring Valley next Monday, March 25.
