The Copperheads Avery Shope runs the 800-meters during Catawba Ridge’s first home track meet this season.

The Catawba Ridge Copperheads track team easily ran away with its first home meet of the season sweeping Indian Land and Lewisville.

Catawba Ridge boys scored 129 points in taking the win, as Indian Land scored 47 points and Lewisville scored eight.

The Copperheads boys team won all three relay events in the 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800. Individual winners for Catawba Ridge in events were:

RJ Lincoln – 100-meters – 11.07

Alex Conetta – 200-meters – 22.70

Jonathan Hairston – 400-meters – 51.67

Caden Westover – 800-meters – 2:05

Caleb Thompson – 400-meter hurdles – 1:07.69

Kayden Hager – long jump – 19’ 4”

Forrest Rozelle – pole vault – 11’6”

Thomas Maxwell – discus – 117’

Thomas Maxwell – javelin – 145’

Josh Ehresman – shot put – 47’ 3”

The Catawba Ridge girls scored 103 points in their win over Indian Land, who put up 72 points, and Lewisville, who again scored eight points. The Copperheads won just one relay event for the girls in the 4×800 meters. Individual winners for Catawba Ridge were:

Golf

Fort Mill boys golf team improved to 4-0 with a win over Rock Hill at Tega Cay Golf Course. The Jackets shot a 161 beating Rock Hill by 58 strokes. Griffin Tarver led Fort Mill with a 38, followed by a 40 from Cam Baker and a 41 from Ossian Quinn. Bryce Wittmer rounded out the scoring with a 42.

Nation Ford boys golf team beat Indian Land 163-198. Gabe Schmitz led the Falcons with a 36 followed by a 40 from Justin Wosje. Cameron Allen added a 42 for the Falcons and a Tyler Kemmerlin finished off the scoring with a 45.

Tennis

Catawba Ridge beat Indian Land 5-1. Getting wins for the Copperheads were Devin Hartzog, Eric Finley, Aiden Lilies, Keon Tesamale in singles matches and Sammy Mullis and Cade Gainey won in doubles.

Nation Ford beat Clover 6-0. Getting wins in singles matches for the Falcons were Juan Albanez, Charlie Lynch, Ian Drane, Gage Fenbert and Akhil Kanthamneni. George Lynch and Shiv Patel won in doubles as well.

Baseball

Nation Ford beat Gaffney for the second straight night with a 13-0 shutout to improve to 2-0 in Region 3-5A. The Falcons are now 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the region. Jacob Boyna threw a three-hit shutout as Justin Lehman went 4-5 at the plate with six RBI to lead Nation Ford. Both Gabe Simmons and Aaron Pendergast each had three hits as well as the Falcons had 16 hits as a team.

Fort Mill lost to Rock Hill 5-3. The Jackets outhit the Bearcats 9-4, but also made three errors in the field. With the loss, the Jackets drop to 4-3 overall.
