The Catawba Ridge boys’ tennis team wrapped up their regular season and Region 3-4A play with a win over Northwestern Tuesday.

Catawba Ridge won 6-0 winning all six matches in straight sets, with two of those sets going to tiebreakers.

At No. 1 singles for the Copperheads, Haddon Richardson won 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) and Bryce Greeley won at No. 2 singles for Catawba Ridge 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).

Singles action at three through five was a little easier as Abhinav Pattipaka won at No. 3 singles for Catawba Ridge 6-1, 6-1 and at No. 4 singles Koen Tesimale won 6-1, 6-2 for the Copperheads. Spencer Epting rounded out the singles play winning 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.

In the only doubles match, Spencer Boyer and Jacob Thompson won 6-4, 7-5 for Catawba Ridge.

The Copperheads finished the regular season at 2-9 overall and 2-4 in region play. Catawba Ridge did make the playoffs and will open the first round Tuesday, April 25.

Catawba Ridge

The Catawba Ridge baseball team beat Northwestern 5-2 to improve to 13-1 in Region 3-4A and 18-4 overall. Owen Noonan led the Copperheads with a 2-3 night at the plate and two RBI. Caden Glauber pitched a three hitter and struck out 13 batters to get the win in the complete game.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ lacrosse team fell 11-3 in the first round of the 4A state playoffs to AC Flora in Columbia. The Copperheads finished the season with a 5-9 overall record.

Nation Ford

The Nation Ford golf team finished tied for eighth in the final standings of the Falcons Cup played at Palisades Country Club in Charlotte. There were 16 teams in the 18-hole event, which was a two-man team alternating shot and best ball tournament. Charlotte Catholic won the event with a 218.

Fort Mill finished third with a 229. Cam Baker and Cade Bettie shot a 71 for Fort Mill. Parker Harrigan and Mason Jacekli finished with a 78 and Baker Tolentino and David Harrigan shot an 80.

Nation Ford shot a 240 and tied with Catawba Ridge, who also shot a 240. Nation Ford was led by Justin Wosje and Harrison Lapointe with a 72, Carter Smith and Jake Macheski shot a 79 and Tyler Kemmerlin and Cameron Allen shot an 89.

Catawba Ridge was led by Hunter Warren and Muller Otto with a 74. OT Mitchell and Drew White shot a 79 and Killian Kirby and Connor McQuirk shot an 87. 

The Nation Ford baseball team beat Spring Valley 2-1 to improve to 12-10 overall and 7-6 in Region 3-5A play. Gabe Simmons went 1-2 with an RBI for the Falcons getting one of their three hits in the game.

Fort Mill

The Fort Mill baseball team fell to Clover in game two of their series 3-1. Fort Mill got six hits in the loss. The Jackets fall to 12-10 overall and 8-5 in Region 3-5A.

The Fort Mill softball team beat Buford 8-6 as El DesErmia, Mary Dober, Lexi Verastegui and Brooke Roserio all had two hits in the game. Roserio, Dober and Verastegui each had two RBIs as well. Haley Rogers pitched a complete game for Fort Mill and got the win. Fort Mill is now 12-5 overall on the season.

The Fort Mill boys’ lacrosse team fell to Dorman 15-11 in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. The Jackets finish their season with a 6-11 record overall.
