Catawba Ridge’s Zadie Wilkerson runs the 1,600-meter event for the Copperheads in their meet on Wednesday, March 4.

The Catawba Ridge Copperhead track team hosted one of their three home meets coming away with several wins.

Catawba Ridge took on Region 3-5A foes Rock Hill and Clover, as well as home school program, the York County Trailblazers, and Chester High School. The Lady Copperheads amassed 166 points to finish second with Clover scoring 222 points to win, while the boys’ team won scoring 243.5 points. Clover was second with 193.5 points.

In the relay events, the Copperheads’ girls won the 4×800 in 10:19 with the team of Zadie Wilkerson, Isabella Cardozo, Maeve Beard, and Alaina Kilpatrick, while the boys won in 8:25 with Jack Sivil, Ryan Pierson, William Kowalski, and Tyler Merrigan. The Catawba Ridge boys also won the 4×100 in 44.02 with Mark Blakeney, Zachary Jackson, Tyler Robinson, and Xavier Gilmore.

In the individual events, Catawba Ridge had multiple winners. Blakeney won the boys’ 100-meters in 11.40 and Kilpatrick won the girls’ 400-meter hurdles in 1:12.

The Copperheads also swept the 800-meter event with Cardozo winning the girls’ race in 2:21 and Sivil winning the boys’ race in 2:05.

Robinson won the 200-meters in 23.39 for the Copperheads and Pierson won the 3,200-meters in 10:15 for Catawba Ridge.

In the field events, Catawba Ridge swept the discus as Evelyn Utley won with a throw of 87 feet, 1 inch and Michael Stinson won with a throw of 152 feet, 6 inches. Catawba Ridge’s David Geo won the javelin with a throw of 143 feet and Brody Rivard won the shot put for the Copperheads with a toss of 47 feet, 1.75 inches.

The Copperheads’ Ean Brown won the boys’ high jump clearing 6 feet, 1.25 inches.

The Fort Mill girls’ lacrosse team fell to Myers Park at home 9-3 to drop to 1-2 on the season.

The Fort Mill boys’ lacrosse team fell to Mauldin 6-2 on the road to drop to 2-1 on the season.

The Fort Mill softball team fell to York on the road 7-1 to drop to 1-1 on the season.

The Catawba Ridge tennis team fell 5-4 to Palisades on the road to drop to 2-2 overall this season.

The Nation Ford boys’ lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season with a 13-8 victory over Dutch Fork on the road to improve to 1-2 on the season.

Late Tuesday, the Nation Ford boys’ tennis team swept Indian Land 6-0 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Late Tuesday, the Nation Ford girls’ lacrosse team beat Boiling Springs on the road 13-10 to improve to 5-0.
