Nation Ford’s Tessa Kramer, left, and Mary Palmer will be taking their athletic abilities to different colleges next year to swim and run.

Two Nation Ford Falcons recently made their choices for college official.

Mary Palmer and Tessa Kramer will each be competing in college athletics next year. Palmer will be swimming at Lees-McCrae College in Banner Elk, N.C.  and Kramer will be running at Converse College in Spartanburg.

Palmer, 17, will be swimming the 100 and 200 breast and the 200-individual medley for Lees-McCrae. She picked the school over other options like St. Andrews College and Barton College.

“I really liked the facility there,” Palmer said.

Palmer said she plans on majoring in criminal justice and said she wanted to get away for college, but not very far. The school is roughly three hours away from Fort Mill.

“I wanted to be close to home, but not a 30-minute drive,” she said.

Kramer, 18, had looked at schools in Virginia, Michigan and in the Greenville area within the state, but decided on Converse.

“They were welcoming and small,” she said. “It will be a challenge for me athletically and academically. Plus, nothing beats that in-state tuition.”

Kramer plans on majoring in psychology and will be running the 400-meter hurdles and will be a part of relay teams for the school.
