Lincoln Greene won the 106-pound bracket at the Kingsley Classic at Fort Mill High Saturday.

Two local wrestlers won titles at the Kingsley Classic Saturday in the two-day tournament at Fort Mill High School.

Fort Mill’s Lincoln Greene and Nation Ford’s Clayton Rygol both won titles despite there being five local wrestlers in the finals of the tournament. There were also six local wrestlers that placed in the consolation finals.

Eastside ran away with the individual tournament scoring 273 points to grab the win, while Kellam, from Virginia, scored 194 points. Fort Mill finished sixth with 141.5 points. Catawba Ridge was ninth with 89.5 points and Nation Ford was 11th with 73 points.

“Coming in winged and wounded didn’t help,” said Fort Mill head coach Chris Brock. “We had a couple matches we should have won. There were some across the board problems that cost us a lot of points.”

At 106 pounds, Fort Mill’s Greene won by first period fall over Kellam’s Zander Brewer. At 220-pounds, Nation Ford’s Rygol won a 10-8 decision over Gilbert’s Colton Travis.

“This is a tough tournament,” said Nation Ford head coach Bret Peltier. “I thought we would do better. We lost to some really good kids. We got in positions where we didn’t correct ourselves.”

Fort Mill had two other wrestlers make the finals and Catawba Ridge had one make the finals. Fort Mill’s Tucker Gibson lost by fall to Eastside’s Ty Tice at 120-pounds and TJ Miller lost 5-1 to Eastside’s Baron Leonard at 182-pounds. Catawba Ridge’s Jackson Rozelle lost to Eastside’s Bronik Snizaski by fall at 152-pounds.

Catawba Ridge had the most placers from any local team with four.

“The kids wrestled tough,” said Catawba Ridge head coach Nick Hansen. “They are definitely getting better. All in all, we did pretty good.”

Also placing for the Copperheads was Sean Barstad (160), Jarrett Eubanks (170) and Tony Atkins (hwt.), all with fourth place finishes.

For Fort Mill, Henry Debbout (220) finished third, while Jacob Nally (113) and Aiden Eubanks (126) placed fourth.
