
The local boys’ tennis teams are doing well this season and look to be in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs.
The Catawba Ridge boys’ tennis team won their two most recent matches beating Northwestern and York, both by scores of 6-0. The Copperheads are now 7-4 on the season and 5-3 in Region 3-5A.
Against York on Wednesday, March 25, the Copperheads were led by straight set wins from all five singles players and their doubles team of Swarit Garad and Andre Santana, who won 6-3, 6-2.
Winning in singles for Catawba Ridge was Ishaan Singh 6-1, 6-3; Arnav Bhingare 6-4, 7-5; Wayden Uter 6-0, 6-0; Aahan Singh 6-1, 6-0; and Virat Bais 6-2, 6-3.
Up next week for Catawba Ridge is Indian Land at home and then Nation Ford on the road.
Fort Mill recently beat Clover 6-0 on Tuesday, March 24 to improve to 7-2 overall and 7-1 in Region 3-5A. The Jackets won all six matches in straight sets.
Winning for Fort Mill against Clover was Liam Marriott 6-0, 6-1; Lucas Coelho 6-0, 6-0; Jethin Bastin 6-0, 6-0; Ishaan Amjath 6-0, 6-0; and Jackson Bradley 6-1, 6-1. Winning in doubles for Fort Mill was Brandon Behrmann and Atharv Sharma 6-2, 6-2.
Up next for the Jackets is a home match against Rock Hill on Thursday, March 26 and then Northwestern on the road next week.
The Nation Ford Falcons sit at 6-1 overall on the season and will next play on March 26 at Indian Land.
