Fort Mill’s Jacob Nally was one of six Jacket wrestlers to win Region 3-5A titles Saturday during the region tournament.

Ten local wrestlers came away with Region titles during their respective tournaments held Friday and Saturday.

The Region 3-5A tournament was held at Clover High School on Saturday and the Region 3-4A tournament was held Friday at Indian Land High School.

Fort Mill won the Region 3-5A tournament with 227.5 points over Clover which finished second with 177 points. Fort Mill had six wrestlers win region titles after sending 10 to the finals. Fort Mill dominated the first six weight classes with all six champions coming from the top of their lineup.

Region champions for Fort Mill were Luke Van Beynum (106), Jacob Nally (113), Lincoln Green (120), Tucker Gibson (126), Logan Shope (132), and Aidan Eubanks (132).

Fort Mill also had four second place finishers in Broden Mitcheson (157), Theodore Ernst (175), Sebastian Villatoro (190) and Joseph Richardson (215).

“You want to win them all, but I am proud of the guys and the effort they gave today,” said Fort Mill head wrestling coach Adam Marullo.

The Jackets had two wrestlers place third in Keenan Coston (144) and Cade Simpson (150) and one wrestler place fourth in Jalen Potts (165).

Nation Ford finished fifth in the tournament with 112 points.

Nation Ford had two region champions crowned in Mitchell Ladamus (144) and Derek Bylone van Sandwyk (190). Ladamus won his 100th career match in the finals with a decision over Clover’s Chris Brimlow.  

“It was a better day than we have had recently,” said Nation Ford head coach Bret Peltier. “We wrestled better today.”

The Falcons had two second place finishers in William Clark (126) and Danny Gilstorf (132). Nation Ford also had a third-place finisher in Sulaymon Oskar (165) and three wrestlers take fourth in Jake Moore (113), Austin Gebhardt (150), and Michael Kay (215).

On Friday at Indian Land, Catawba Ridge came away with 12 qualifiers for the Upper State tournament in February. They also came away with two Region 3-4A champions in Jarrett Eubanks (175) and Alex Johnson (215).

Catawba Ridge wrestlers finishing second were Cole Stukitz (138) and Jackson Rozelle (157). The Copperheads had four third place finishers in Josh Gets (120), Clark Ostendorf (132), Ryan Stukitz (150), and Beau Nicoll (165).

Those wrestlers finishing fourth for the Copperheads were Angel Acosta (113), Wyatt Ellison (126), and Preston Olsen (190).

Dual playoffs for all three local high schools start Saturday, Feb. 3.
