Fort Mill’s Cam Baker won the Fleischer Invitational in a playoff after shooting a 147 over the previous two days.

ROCK HILL – All three local high school golf teams finished in the top five in the Fleischer Invitational at Rock Hill County Club Saturday as Fort Mill’s Cam Baker came away with the tournament win.

Nation Ford finished third overall with a 644 (318-326), Fort Mill was fourth with a 665 (340-325) and Catawba Ridge was fifth with a 681 (334-347). Charlotte Country Day won the two-day, 36-hole tournament shooting a 605 as a team.

The tournament was a tune up for a potential second half of the season run for Nation Ford.

“It is still early,” said Nation Ford head coach Amelio Rodriguez. “We still have about a month left.”

Baker, Fort Mill’s number one player, shot a two-day total of 147 (75-72) to tie for the lead and then won the tournament on a three-man, one-hole sudden death playoff on the par 4 18th hole by making a birdie.

“We played well,” said Fort Mill head coach Judd Dye. “Cam played really well.”

The Falcons were led by Ben Wakefield who shot a 150 (74-76), followed by Ben Mills with a 152 (75-77) and Justin Wosje with a 156 (77-79). On day one of the tournament, Colby McCaskill shot a 92 and on day two, Carter Smith subbed in and shot a 94.

Besides Baker, Fort Mill was led by a 160 (85-75) from Alex Martin and a pair of 179s (86-93) from Austin Anderson and Ryan Patterson (94-85).

Catawba Ridge was led by OT Mitchell with a 155 (77-78) and Hunter Warren 156 (76-80). Parrish Fox shot a two-day total of 178 (90-88) and Chandler Kissel finished with a 192 (91-101).

“The course played in different ways this weekend, the first day from the second,” said Copperheads’ head coach Mickey Joslin. “Our goal coming in was to finish in the top five.”
