Emerson Rhodes throws a pitch for Post 43 against Camden.

The Fort Mill Post 43 Seniors fell to 0-2 on the season with a hard loss to Camden Post 17.

Post 43 fell 15-4 and will now travel to Camden on Thursday, June 11 to finish the series.

Camden opened the game with a single, but left a runner stranded on third in the first inning.

Fort Mill got on the board in the bottom of the first. An error allowed leadoff batter Michael Caropreso to reach base. Alex Blanchette walked and Cooper Diehl drove in Caropreso to put Post 43 up 1-0.

Post 17 came back to tie the game in the second inning off a couple of hits. Errors gave Camden the lead at 2-1 before the inning was over.

After facing the minimum in the second inning, Camden again put runs on the board as more errors led to Post 17 scoring more runs. Camden then hit a home run to go up 6-1 in the third before starter Emerson Rhodes was pulled for Zac Young.

Rhodes went two and a third innings allowing six runs on five hits, while walking one and striking out two.

Camden would add three more runs before Post 43 could get out of the inning as Post 17 would go up 9-1. In the bottom of the inning, TJ McCluney singled for the only base runner for Fort Mill in the inning.

Post 17 tacked on another run off their second home run of the game in the top of the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the inning, James Carlin led things off for Fort Mill with a single. Gray Kneidel walked to put runners on the corners for Post 43 and another walk to Lawson Smith, before Jack Shelnutt was hit by a pitch to score a run before Camden changed pitchers.

A walk to Cooper Armstrong led to another run and then Caropreso drove in a run on a sacrifice to make it 10-4.

Camden added a run in the fifth inning off another Fort Mill error.

In the sixth inning, Daniel McCloskey came in to pitch for Fort Mill. Two walks and a single loaded the bases with no outs for Camden. A two-run single and another walk gave Post 17 a 10-run lead.

Caropreso came in to pitch for McCloskey after one third of an inning. He would last a third of an inning as well before being replaced by Lawson Smith, who got an out as well.

Fort Mill got just three hits in the game as Shellnut, Carlin, and McCluney each got a hit.
