With a 7-0 shutout win over Lancaster Post 31, Fort Mill Post 43 senior team pulled within a half game of first place in League IV.

Post 43 pitching allowed just three hits against Lancaster to get the win and improve to 8-4 overall and 5-3 in league play trailing Rock Hill Post 34.  The two teams will play at Rock Hill Thursday, June 29.

Against Lancaster Tuesday evening, Clover’s Sam Czyz got the start and went six innings allowing three hits, while walking three and striking out seven. Seth Hanson pitched a hitless seventh for Post 43 to close the game out.

Offensively, Post 43 scattered 10 hits with Eli Craddock and Jonathan Barschow each getting two hits to lead Fort Mill. Craddock and Scott Young each drove in two runs for Post 43.

Fort Mill scored a run in the first inning off a Lancaster error. Post 43 added three runs in the second inning with the help of a double from Drew Gaff and Craddock on back-to-back at-bats. Barschow would double as well and knock in Craddock.

Post 43 added two runs in the fourth inning on four consecutive singles as Young would knock in both Barschow and Nico Bartolotti to put them up 6-0.

In the fifth, Post 43 added the seventh run on a single from Craddock and then a couple errors on the play which scored Blake Sanders, who reached after getting hit by a pitch.

Fort Mill has two road games to end the week at Rock Hill Thursday and then at Lancaster Friday.

Juniors split DH with Lancaster

The Fort Mill Post 43 Juniors split a doubleheader at Lancaster Tuesday falling 10-8 in game one and then winning 12-0 in game two to improve to 6-3 overall on the season.

In game one, Fort Mill had one bad inning where Lancaster scored seven runs in the first inning after Post 43 led 3-0 in the top half of the first.

Post 43 was able to outscore Lancaster 5-3 the rest of the first game, but never was able to catch up. Alex Smith went 2-2 with an RBI for Post 43 and James Knoll went 1-3 with two RBI in the opening game.

In game two, Knoll pitched a one hitter as he struck out seven and walked two. Post 43 score five runs in the second to take advantage of a big inning and then finished the game off with five runs in the fifth as well. Kade Balsinger went 1-4 with three RBI for Post 43 in the win.

Post 43 will host Lancaster Wednesday, June 28 in another doubleheader this time at Catawba Ridge.
