The Nation Ford boys’ tennis team topped Fort Mill in their first meeting this season at Fort Mill High.

Nation Ford beat Fort Mill 5-1 to improve to 7-2 in Region 3-5A play and 11-5 overall.

The Falcons were strong in singles matches as they won all five of them and dropped the only doubles match. Nation Ford was coming off a season sweep of Indian Land from Monday night where they beat them 6-0.

Against Fort Mill, No. 1 Ian Drane for Nation Ford beat the Jackets’ Connor Hismier 6-2, 7-5. Nation Ford’s Akhil Kanthamneni won over Zach Hughes 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and the Falcons’ No. 3 George Lynch won over Clay Wilson of Fort Mill 6-3, 6-3.

At No. 4 singles, Ziad Baki for Nation Ford beat Arnov Meshram 6-3, 6-4 and Deep Patel won at No. 5 singles for the Falcons over Jack Childs 7-5, 7-5.

Fort Mill did win the only doubles match as Cade Simms and Lucas Choelo won 7-6, 6-0 beating Nation Ford’s Pranav Murugesan and Zach Robinson.

The two rivals meet later this week as their second match of the season is scheduled at Nation Ford for Thursday, April 13.

The Fort Mill girls’ soccer team lost on the road Tuesday to White Knoll 1-0 dropping them to 7-7-1 overall this season.

Nation Ford

The Nation Ford girls’ soccer team fell at home to Lexington 4-0 dropping them to 7-8 overall on the season. The Falcons boys’ soccer team beat Northwestern on the road 3-0 to improve to 12-4 overall.

Kailey Alston walked off a 5-4 win over Fort Mill for the Nation Ford softball team to improve the to 3-2 in Region 3-5A play and 5-7 on the season. Alston doubled in a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Fort Mill held a 4-1 lead through five and a half innings. Emma Skovran went 2-3 with an RBI for Nation Ford in the win. El DesErmia and Brooke Roserio went 3-4 with an RBI to lead Fort Mill at the plate. Fort Mill fell to 9-5 overall with the loss and 2-4 in region play.

Catawba Ridge

The Catawba Ridge softball team beat Lancaster 19-4 to improve to 16-3 overall and 8-0 in Region 3-4A play. Audrey Wilson went 3-3 with two RBIs. Jenna Gardner, Braylon Lawrence and Kendra Murray each went 2-3 in the game. Murray had a triple and four RBIs.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ soccer team beat Lancaster 12-0 as Sadie Commerford scored three goals and had three assists to lead the Copperheads. With the win, they improved to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in the region.
