The Nation Ford golf team stands on the 18th green after winning the Fleischer Invitational tournament Saturday.

ROCK HILL – The Nation Ford Falcons golf team won the Fleischer Invitational Saturday at the Rock Hill Country Club.

The two-day tournament was shortened to 27-holes from 36-holes because of heavy rains in the area Friday. On Friday, the 12-team field played nine holes and then played 18-holes on Saturday.

Nation Ford shot a 458 (154-304) over the two days with Justin Wosje winning the tournament for the Falcons with a 109 (37-72).

Wosje was joined by Catawba Ridge’s OT Mitchell and Fort Mill’s Cam Baker as the top three finishers in the tournament. Wosje won over Mitchell in a one-hole playoff. Mitchell also shot a 109 in regulation with an even par 36 on day one and a 73 on day two. Baker for Fort Mill shot a 110 (37-73).

Following Wosje for Nation Ford was Harrison Lapointe with a 114 (37-77) and Ben Mills with a 115 (39-76). Ben Wakefield rounded out the scoring for the Falcons with a 120 (41-79).

Nation Ford head coach Amelio Rodriguez said he was pleased with how his team played.

“We were happy to get four in the 70s,” he said. “I am very happy with how we played. We thought we could come in and compete to win.”

Fort Mill finished fourth overall with a 484 (165-319) and was led by Baker. Following his scores was a pair of 124s from Parker Harrigan (41-83) and David Harrigan (42-84). Fort Mill had two players combine for a 126 as Austin Anderson shot a 45 on day one and Mason Jaeckli shot an 81 on day two.

“We played average,” said Fort Mill head coach Jeff Bridges. “I was pleased with how Mason played. Cam always plays well. We need a few more scores in the 70s to be consistent.”

Catawba Ridge shot a 494 (156-338) to finish seventh. The Copperheads were in second place after day one, but struggled on day two.

Mitchell led the Copperheads and was followed by Hunter Warren with a 112 (36-75). Muller Otto was behind him with a 132 (40-92) and Killian Kirby shot a 141 (43-98).

“We were in contention, which is all we wanted,” said Catawba Ridge head coach Judd Dye. “My one and two responded well. My three and four are freshmen who have never seen the back nine here.”

All three teams are back in action next week as Catawba Ridge plays Indian Land Monday at Lancaster Golf Club and Fort Mill will host a tri-match Monday as well at Tega Cay Golf Club. Nation Ford will host a tri-match Monday as well at Springfield Golf Club.
