It was a dirty dozen for the girls’ team, as Fort Mill swept their way to the Region 3-5A swim team titles.

The Fort Mill girls’ swim team won their 12th consecutive region title Saturday and the boys’ team regained the region title from Nation Ford, who won it last year.

Fort Mill girls scored 327.5 points with Nation Ford coming in second with 283 points. The Yellow Jackets boys’ team scored 352 points with the Falcons coming in second with 226.

Both Fort Mill and Nation Ford dominated the Region meet Saturday at the Fort Mill Aquatic Center winning all but three events in the 22-event meet.  Those other three events were won by Boiling Springs, who finished fourth in each of the boys’ and girls’ standings, behind Clover, who was both third in the boys’ and girls’ standings.

Nation Ford won four relay events with Fort Mill winning one and Boiling Springs winning one. Nation Ford’s Austin Lockhart set a new state record in the 100-yard freestyle winning the event in 45.07, breaking the previous record held by Fort Mill’s Zach Piedt.

Individual winners for Fort Mill were:

Anna Kate Halligan – girls’ 200-yard individual medley and 500-yard freestyle

Drew Fey – boys’ 50-yard freestyle

Olivia Corbi – girls’ 100-yard freestyle

Individual winners for Nation Ford were:

Emily Eaton – girls’ 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke

Austin Lockhart – boys’ 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle

Lucas Grigat – boys’ 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke

George Bujoreanu – boys’ 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke

Ava Padgett – girls’ 50-yard freestyle

Sophia Bujoreanu – girls’ 100-yard backstroke

In the Region 3-4A meet held at the Rock Hill Aquatic Center also on Saturday, Catawba Ridge came away with Alexander Ritz winning two region titles in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. The South Pointe girls and Indian Land boys swim teams won region titles. The Copperhead girls’ finished second and boys’ finished third.
