Fort Mill’s Alivia Cleveland nears the finish line as she wins the Jackets’ cross-country meet Tuesday.

The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets won in dominating fashion Tuesday in a four-way cross-country meet at the Anne Springs Close Greenway.

Both the boys’ and girls’ teams beat Clover, Boiling Springs and Nation Ford in the event. Fort Mill girls posted a near perfect score of 15, coming up one point short, scoring 16 points. Their score was followed by 51 points from Clover, 86 from Boiling Springs and 90 from Nation Ford.

In the girls’ race, Fort Mill was led by Alivia Cleveland, who won the race in at time of 20:20. She was followed by Avery Moriarty in 20:43 in second place and then Angel Kravitz in 20:51 in third place. Kelsey McGuire finished fourth for the Jackets in 21:05 and Brinley Ellis was sixth overall in 22:30. Clover’s Ella Nighbor finished fifth just 21 seconds ahead of Ellis.

Nation Ford was led by Hannah Clark, who finished 22nd in 26:20, and then Lauren Bassing, who was 27th in 26:58. Miku Pitman was 30th in 27:24 for the Falcons and Audrey Water finished 40th in 28:09. Rounding out the scoring for the Falcons was Samantha Zermeno in 44th in 28:40.

The boys’ race was a little more competitive between the second and third place teams. Fort Mill won with a score of 19 points, followed by 60 points from Clover and 62 points from Boiling Springs. Nation Ford finished with 111 points.

Fort Mill had the top three finishers in the race in Jackson Dawson, who won in 18:14, and was followed two seconds later by Evan Way in second at 18:16. Evan Ickert was third at 18:17 and sixth was Liam Eident at 18:28. Tanner Long was seventh in 18:34 as all five of the Jackets’ finishers crossed the line within 20 seconds of each other.

Nation Ford was led by Alex McCaskill, who finished 26th in 20:59. Jacob Touchdown was next for the Falcons in 39th in 21:58 and then Dominic Rigoni in 48th in 22:33. Ziad Baki finished 65th and Owen Houston finished 66th in an identical time of 23:38 for the Falcons to round out the scoring.

Fort Mill now travels to the Lake Murray Invitational Saturday, while Nation Ford heads to the Hare and Hounds Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park.

Tennis

Fort Mill girls’ tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 6-1 win over rivals Nation Ford Tuesday evening. The Jackets are now 1-0 on the season in Region 3-5A and Nation Ford is 0-1 in the region.

The Jackets got wins from No. 1 Ananya Pallath 6-0, 6-1; No. 2 Aashi Pallath 6-1, 6-0; No. 3 Madison McCarthy 7-6, 6-2 and No. 4 Katie Pierson 6-0, 6-0 in singles competition. Nation Ford picked up a singles win at No. 5 singles with Alexa Brenner winning in three sets 6-3, 5-7, 10-7. Fort Mill also won No. 2 doubles 6-0, 6-0 with Clara Lake and Katie Hill winning, before the Pallath sisters teamed to win in No. 1 doubles in just one set 6-1.
