CHARLESTON – The Fort Mill boys golf team took home a top 10 finish in the 5A state golf tournament in Charleston. 

Fort Mill finished seventh overall in the two-day tournament held at the Charleston Municipal Course with a team total of 648, tying with Dorman. Nation Ford finished 13th overall as a team with a two-day total of 657. Boiling Springs repeated as state champions with a total of 616, edging Chapin by one stroke. 

On the first day, Fort Mill shot a 323 and then a 325 on the second day. Both days the Jackets were led by Cam Baker who shot a 148 (75-73). Baker finished fourth overall in the tournament and was followed by Alex Martin with a 159 (78-81). Austin Anderson was right behind him with a 165 (80-85) and then Parker Harrington with a 176 (90-86). Baker Tolentino also participated in the tournament for the Jackets shooting a 193 (93-100). 

For Nation Ford, the Falcons shot 328 on day one and 329 on day two of the tournament. Ben Mills led Nation Ford with a 10th place finish overall shooting a 154 (75-79). Ben Wakefield was behind him shooting a 162 (84-78) and then a 171 (87-84) from Harrison LaPointe. Justin Wosje finished with a 173 (85-88) and Colby McCaskill finished with a 174 (84-90) for Nation Ford.

The 4A state tournament was held in Columbia at Forest Lake Club and Catawba Ridge had two golfers participating as individuals. Like the 5A tournament, it was a two-day tournament. The Copperheads’ OT Mitchell finished 17th overall with a 154 (80-74) and Hunter Warren was 23rd with a 157 (81-76).
