Both Fort Mill and Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis teams continue their momentum in the right direction by picking up 6-0 wins.

Catawba Ridge beat Lancaster 6-0 and Fort Mill blanked York 6-0. The Copperheads are now 6-0 and the Jackets are 7-1 on the year.

Winning for Catawba Ridge by identical scores was No. 1 singles Sarah Taylor and No. 2 singles Claire Hivner 6-0, 6-1. No. 3 singles Aiyana Uter took her match for the Copperheads 6-1, 7-5 and Evangeline Kelly won in straight sets as well at No. 4 singles 7-5, 6-4.

Rounding things out were No. 5 singles Mallory McCart winning 6-3, 6-2 and in No. 2 doubles Lilly L’esperance and Peri Raczynski won 6-1, 6-1.

Up next for the Copperheads are matches against Indian Land and a non-region match at Rock Hill.

For the Jackets, all matches were won in straight sets. Winning for Fort Mill was No. 1 singles Madison McCarty 6-0, 6-2 and No. 2 singles Katie Pierson 6-0, 6-0. Sophie Bennett won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Rachel Templeton won at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-0. Bristol Kershaw won at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-3.

Clare Lake and Kate Hill won in the only doubles match 6-1, 6-0.

Fort Mill will continue their season with road matches at Boiling Springs and Gaffney this coming week.
