Fort Mill Post 43’s Justin Lehman hits the first of two doubles in the game against Lancaster Post 31. Lehman led Fort Mill with two hits in the game and drove in six runs.

LANCASTER – With the help of eight Lancaster errors, Fort Mill Post 43 got its first win of the 2020 season routing Post 31 14-2.

Fort Mill Post 43 had just five hits in the game and was led by catcher Justin Lehman, who went 2-5 with two doubles and six RBI in the game.

On the mound for Fort Mill, Blake Sherrill went four strong innings allowing just two runs on four hits, while walking one and striking out six. Both runs he allowed were earned runs.

Fort Mill scored three in the first as Lehman hit a bases clearing double to score Patrick Matthews, Connor Rasmussen and Chase Dougherty.

Post 43 added four runs in the fourth inning off one hit and four Lancaster errors as they batted around in the inning. The only hit in the inning came from a Gabe Simmons single as Scott Young had a sacrifice fly to start the scoring for Fort Mill. AJ Jaworowski, Xavier Cumbee and Simmons would all score in the inning as well.

Fort Mill would then add six more runs in the seventh inning again batting around, but collecting just two hits in the inning as Lancaster again would commit two errors and walk three Post 43 hitters. Lehman would collect his second three run double scoring Kyle Raynor, Nic Curtis and Dougherty.

Lancaster had just one critical inning, which came in the second as they would score two runs on two hits, one coming off a two-run home run from Luke Harris.

Post 43 now travels to Segra Park in Columbia Thursday to play Lexington Post 7. It will be the first time back for Fort Mill since they lost the state finals there to Greer last season. Game time is 5:30 p.m. and fans are asked to wear a mask according to Columbia City Council and to pay with credit or debit card. No cash will be accepted.
