Fort Mill High School had 18 student athletes recently sign to play at the next level during their spring signing day held last week.

The signing makes 29 athletes that have signed from the school this academic year. There was four in the fall signing period, seven in the winter and then 18 this spring. Of those signing, there were four girls’ soccer players, three boys’ soccer players, three track/cross country runners, two golfers, two volleyball players, two baseball players, a football player and a basketball player.

Girls Soccer

Sophia Giarrizzi – Francis Marion

Giarrizzi has been a three-year letter winner for the varsity team and is captain of her Charlotte Soccer Academy club team for three seasons. She has played club soccer for the Charlotte Independence team as well.

Mackenzie Jean (MJ) Grant – Southern Wesleyan

Grant has played for Fort Mill for two seasons and has been captain for both years. She has also played at the Charlotte Soccer Academy as an outside midfielder and forward.

Dylan Harder – Coastal Carolina

Harder is a four-year starter for the soccer team and was named to the All-Region team her sophomore and junior seasons. She was an All-State player as a junior with 21 goals in 21 matches. As a senior, she was top five in the state for total points and was selected among the top 18 players in the state as part of the Carolinas All-Star Clash.

Kayleigh Kearns – Valdosta State

Kearnes has been a four-year player for Fort Mill and has played soccer for the past 12 years, including playing soccer for the Charlotte Soccer Academy and the Charlotte Independence.

Boys Soccer

Noah Churchill – Rensselear Polytechnic Institute

Churchill was part of this season’s Region 3-5A title team. He was named to the All-Tournament team as part of the Bryan Ostrower High School Soccer Showcase. He is part of the US Soccer Youth Development Academy for the Charlotte Soccer Academy.

Jonathan Hansen – Pfeiffer

Hansen started for three years for the Fort Mill High team and was part of this season’s Region 3-5A title team.  He has played club soccer for 10 years with clubs such as Discoveries, Charlotte Independence, Charlotte Elite and the Charlotte Soccer Academy. 

Declan Sherlock – Steven Gerrard Academy

Sherlock has played for three seasons with Fort Mill. He will be playing high level academy soccer in Liverpool, England.

Track/Cross Country

Ella Madej – Sewanee

Madej has been on the cross-country team for four years and ran for track for two years. She helps to coach the Gold Hill Middle School distance track group.

Devon Sibley – University of Maine

Sibley has been running at the school for five years.  He holds the school record in the 3,200-meters with a time of 9:33. He placed second in the state cross country meet his junior year and was part of the 2021 state championship winning cross country team. He is a three time All-State in cross-country and was part of the 4×800 state champions in track in 2021 as well.

Danielle Williams – The Citadel (track)

Williams is in her second year of running varsity track. Her events include the 200, 400, 4×100 and 4×400 meters. She has won multiple events during her time at Fort Mill and qualified for the Upper State meet both years in three events.

Golf

Cam Baker – Berry College

Baker placed second his sophomore year in the 5A state tournament. He won the Fleischer Invitational his junior year and tied for fourth in the 5A state tournament the same year. As a senior, he finished third in the Fleischer Invitational and tied for third at the Region 3-5A tournament, as well as named to the All-Region team.

Parker Harrigan – Spartanburg Methodist

Harrigan has played for Fort Mill for two seasons. He was named to the All-Region team and tied for third at the Blazer Open this season.

Volleyball

Grace Duey – Emory and Henry

Duey has played on the varsity volleyball team for three years. She has been named All-Region twice and finished this past season with 213 kills, 163 digs and 36 aces.

Ella Martinez – Francis Marion

Martinez has been with the varsity volleyball team for three seasons.  She ended her time at the school with 431 assists, 160 digs and 51 aces. She has spent six years playing club volleyball with Carolina Union Volleyball Club.

Baseball

Zach Jennings – Brunswick Community College

Jennings has earned letters in both baseball and basketball and was an All-Region basketball player his senior year. He has helped to lead Fort Mill to an Upper State title in baseball in 2022 and during his senior year batted .345 while leading the team in slugging (.564), on-base percentage (.463) and OPS (1.026).

Nick Sholl – Francis Marion

Sholl has been on the baseball team for two years as a relief pitcher coming out of the bullpen. He has played travel baseball for Showcase Baseball Academy and has made several All-Tournament teams.

Football

Jason Moran – Averett

Moran was a three-year varsity player and team captain his senior season. He was an All-Region honorable mention and recipient of the Yellow Jacket Award this past year.

Basketball

Gabe Tooper – Western Carolina

Tooper has been a part of back-to-back Region 3-5A titles for the boys’ basketball team. He is a two-time All-State player and the Region Player of the Year this past season. He was also part of the North-South All-Star team as a senior. He helped to guide Fort Mill to two consecutive Elite Eight appearances over the past two seasons.

Fort Mill’s Noah Churchill missed the original signing day because he was taking an AP Physics exam, so his signing day was May 12.
