Fort Mill’s Ethan Franklin returns a shot during his match against Catawba Ridge.

The Fort Mill boys’ tennis team opened their season with a shutout of Catawba Ridge.

Fort Mill blanked the Copperheads 6-0 to winning all six matches in straight sets. The Jackets dropped just nine games in the match.

Ethan Franklin won at No. 1 singles for Fort Mill beating Ishaan Singh 6-2, 6-0; while Jack Childs won at No. 2 singles for the Jackets 6-1, 6-0 over Wayne Uter.

Fort Mill’s Noah Mills beat Charlie Gallagher at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0 and Arnav Meshram won 6-1, 6-3 over Koen Tesimale for the Copperheads at No. 4 singles.

The Jackets’ Patrick Wright beat Christian Springer 6-0, 6-2 at No.5 singles to finish the individual matches. At No. 2 doubles, Fort Mill’s Lucas Coelho and Liam Marriott beat Kyle Southwood and Aahan Singh 6-0, 6-0

Fort Mill is 1-0 on the season, while Catawba Ridge dropped to 1-1.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ golf team beat Nation Ford in a one-hole playoff after both teams shot a 153 to open their dual season. Niam Sethi led Catawba Ridge with a 36, while Miller Shelton, Bray Vining and Carter Mitten each shot a 39 for the Copperheads. Nation Ford was led by a 35 from Harrison LaPointe, followed by a 37 from Justin Wosje, a 40 from Cameron Allen and a 41 from Landon Snuffer. On the playoff hold, Catawba Ridge shot a 13 as a team, while Nation Ford shot a 16.

The Nation Ford baseball team improved to 2-0 in Region 3-5A play and 4-2 overall on the season with a 4-0 shutout of Northwestern in game two of their three game series. Simon Fernandez led the Falcons at the plate going 2-3 with an RBI and Cooper Mitchell went 1-2 with two RBIs.

The Nation Ford boys’ lacrosse team beat Dutch Fork 17-4 to improve to 5-2 on the season.

The Catawba Ridge baseball team beat Fort Mill 5-4 in game one of their three game series. Catawba Ridge improved to 3-1-1 on the season, while Fort Mill fell to 3-1 on the season. Game two is scheduled to be at Fort Mill on Thursday, March 13.

The Catawba Ridge softball team beat Lexington 7-6 in 10 innings scoring three runs in the bottom of the 10th with the help of a walk-off solo-home run by Kendra Murray. The Copperheads are now 5-0 on the season.
