The Nation Ford Falcons edged Fort Mill in a marathon tennis match that lasted more than four hours Tuesday.

Nation Ford beat Fort Mill 4-3 with the match being decided on No. 1 doubles as the Falcons’ Bella Neff and Ava Baldino beat Fort Mill’s Emily Rimmer and Kate Hill 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (9-7).

The Falcons won matches at No. 2 singles, No. 3 singles and No. 5 singles, while Fort Mill took No. 1 singles, No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles.

At No. 1 singles for Fort Mill, Rimmer beat Neff 6-2, 6-3. Baldino won at No. 2 singles for Nation Ford over Esme Bromham 6-4, 6-2 and Eva Arnautovic won at No. 3 singles for the Falcons at 6-4, 6-3 over Kate Hill.

Fort Mill’s Reagan Adams beat Lauren Padgett 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Nation Ford’s Alexa Brenner won at No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-2 over Hannah Swainey.

In No. 2 doubles, Fort Mill tied it at 3-3 as Kendall McCarty and Abhi Nallareddy beat Ansley McDonald and Piper Land 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 to force No. 1 doubles to play.

The win put Nation Ford at 4-0 in Region 3-5A play and 4-1 overall, while Fort Mill fell to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in region play.

The Nation Ford Falcons girls’ volleyball team fell to Rock Hill 3-2 on the road to drop to 10-4 overall and 2-1 in region play.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ volleyball team beat Northwestern 3-1 to stay undefeated in Region 3-4A play at 5-0. They improved to 7-5 overall with the win.

The Catawba Ridge tennis team beat York 6-0 to improve to 5-0 overall on the season and 4-0 in Region 3-4A.
