Nation Ford’s Ben Mills lines up a putt on the first green at Fort Mill Golf Club during the Falcons match against Catawba Ridge and South Pointe Wednesday.

A wet and soggy Fort Mill Golf Club wasn’t enough to keep the Nation Ford Falcons boys’ golf team from grabbing wins over Catawba Ridge and South Pointe Wednesday afternoon.

Nation Ford shot a 160 and the Copperheads followed with a 163. South Pointe finished with a 182. The Falcons were led by Justin Wosje, who shot a 37 and Ben Mills, who shot a 39. Ben Wakefield finished with a 40 and both Colby McCaskill and Tyler Kemmerlin finished with rounds of 44 each.

Catawba Ridge was led by Hunter Warren, who shot a 35, followed by OT Mitchell with a 39. Parrish Fox finished his round with a 41 and the Copperheads rounded out the scoring with a 48 from Emerson Hill.

The match was the first one of the season for Nation Ford as they improved to 2-0, while Catawba Ridge falls to 1-2 overall. Up next for the Falcons and Copperheads is the Bengal Invitational held next Monday and Tuesday at the Columbia Country Club.

Rain leads to reschedule games

The majority of the rest of the sports were rained out Wednesday as Fort Mill baseball was scheduled to take on Catawba Ridge. That game has been moved to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at Fort Mill High.

The Falcons softball team was supposed to take on Indian Land, but that game was moved to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10 at Nation Ford.

The only other local game was the Nation Ford girls’ soccer team taking on Camden at home and coming away with a 2-0 win to improve to 6-3 overall.
