Nation Ford’s Annie Newton battles for possession during the Falcons match against Rock Hill.

The Nation Ford girls’ soccer team started strong and never looked back in a Region 3-5A win over the Rock Hill Bearcats.

The Falcons won 9-0 improving to 11-3 on the season and 7-2 in the region. Nation Ford had seven different players score in the match.

“It is a special night,” said Nation Ford head girls coach Chris Carrieri. “It is senior night. Tonight was a night where we had a lot of firepower.”

The Falcons have a tough schedule to finish out the regular season with three games left against the toughest of opponents against Catawba Ridge, at Clover and at Fort Mill. Earlier in the season, Nation Ford fell to both Clover and Catawba Ridge and beat Fort Mill.

“It is anybody’s game at this point, so we need to be ready,” he said. “If we can get two of the three, I think we will be getting a good seed heading into the playoffs. Of course we want to win all three.”

Against Rock Hill, Nation Ford scored three goals in the first 11 minutes. Annie Newton scored first seven minutes into the match and that was followed a couple minutes later by Harper Tumblin. Two minutes later, Ava Bogacki made it 3-0 all within the first 10 minutes.

The Falcons continued to control possession, but started substituting more. Madison Littlehale gave Nation Ford a 4-0 lead towards the end of the first half.

Four minutes into the second half, Addi Ripkey scored to extend the Nation Ford lead making it 5-0.

The Falcons controlled possession as the match continued to be one sided.

Five minutes later, Newton made it 6-0 on a breakaway down the middle of the field. Tumblin scored three minutes later and Isabella Mohre made it 8-0 two minutes after that with about 25 minutes remaining in regulation.

Reagan Nelson pushed the Falcons score to 9-0 with a goal in the 63rd minute.
