The Catawba Ridge Copperheads picked up two big Region 3-4A wins over South Pointe and York Tuesday at the Fort Mill Aquatic Center.

Both the Catawba Ridge boys’ and girls’ teams won. The Catawba Ridge girls team won 125-32 over York and 90-80 over South Pointe. The Copperhead boys team won 136-22 over York and 135-54 over South Pointe.

Catawba Ridge won four of the six relay events. Individual winners for the Copperheads were:

Jake Root – boys’ 200-yard individual medley

Savanna Becker – girls’ 100-yard butterfly

Alex Montgomery – boys’ 100-yard butterfly

Alexander Ritz – boys’ 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke

Isabella Meehan – girls’ 100-yard backstroke

Ethan Curtis – boys’ 100-yard backstroke

Up next for Catawba Ridge is the Upstate Invite Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Fort Mill Aquatic Center.

Tennis

The Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 6-0 win over Region 3-4A opponent Lancaster. Winning for the Copperheads was No. 1 singles Sarah Taylor (6-0, 6-0), No. 2 singles Claire Hivner (6-1, 6-0), No. 3 singles Aiyana Uter (6-3, 6-0), No. 4 singles Sara Maleady (6-0, 6-0) and No. 5 singles Lilly L’esperance (6-0, 6-3). Mallory McCart and Lucy Drew won in the only doubles match (6-0, 6-0).
