Catawba Ridge’s Sara Maleady was one of three players for the Copperheads to take a game off her AC Flora opponent Wednesday.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis team lost in the third round of the 4A state playoffs Wednesday to a visiting AC Flora Falcons.

Catawba Ridge fell 6-0 to the Falcons taking only six games off of them in the entire match. Each Copperheads’ player lost in straight sets as Catawba Ridge ended their season at 14-4 overall.

The closest match for the Copperheads was No. 5 singles as Lilly L’esperance lost 6-2, 6-1. Catawba Ridge’s No. 4 singles player Sara Maleady also won a couple games in her match but fell overall 6-2, 6-0. The Copperheads No. 1 singles player Sarah Taylor took one game as well in her match falling 6-1, 6-0.

No. 2 singles and No. 3 singles as well as No. 2 doubles each fell 6-0, 6-0 for Catawba Ridge. Dropping those matches were Claire Hivner at No. 2 singles, Aiyana Uter at No. 3 singles and Mallory McCart and Lucy Drew in No. 2 doubles.
