The Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis team fell short in clinching a share of the Region 3-4A title Wednesday dropping a match to Indian Land.

Indian Land swept the season series against the Copperheads giving them the region title. Catawba Ridge fell 4-2 to Indian Land Wednesday to finish second in the region with an 8-2 record, with both losses coming to the Warriors. Catawba Ridge is 10-4 overall on the season.

Catawba Ridge won at No. 4 singles with Emerson Brooks picking up a 6-4, 6-0 win and at No. 5 singles with Katelyn Evans winning 6-2, 6-4.

The Copperheads will have the second seed coming out of Region III to open the playoffs starting next Thursday, Oct. 19 and will get a home match.

The is the second consecutive Region III title for the Indian Land girls’ team who will advance to the second round of the playoffs after having a bye in the first round because of winning the region.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ volleyball team swept Indian Land 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-17) to finish their Region 3-4A schedule 7-0 and improve to 18-7-1 overall on the season. The Copperheads will host Nation Ford Thursday, Oct. 12 for their final regular season match before the playoffs.

The Nation Ford Falcons girls’ volleyball team swept Fort Mill 3-0 (29-27, 25-10, 25-17) to finish second in Region 3-5A with an 8-2 record behind Rock Hill. Nation Ford is 21-8 overall on the season and will head to a tournament in Wando this weekend to finish the regular season. Fort Mill fell to 15-7 overall and finished region play at 5-5.

The Nation Ford competitive cheer team finished first in the Cougar Classic Competition Wednesday.
