With a win over the Lake Wylie Chargers, the Nation Ford girls’ tennis team is set for a collision course against rivals Catawba Ridge for the Region 3-4A title.

The two teams will meet at Nation Ford on Monday, Oct. 12 as the only loss for the Falcons came at the hands of Catawba Ridge. Catawba Ridge beat them 5-1 on Sept. 9. Nation Ford is now 8-1 on the season.

On Oct. 1, the Falcons blanked Lake Wylie 6-0 and were led by straight set wins from all their players.

Eva Mabey won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for Nation Ford. At No. 2 singles Jiya Guntuboyina won 6-0, 6-2 and Anna Overcash had consecutive sets of 6-1 for her win at No. 3 singles.

Both Gabby Vizzini at No. 4 singles and Alexandra Simants at No. 5 singles for Nation Ford won with nearly identical scores. Vizzini won 6-0, 6-0 and Simants won 6-1, 6-0.

In the only doubles match, Nation Ford’s Claire Kaitenbach and Ella McCullough won 6-1, 6-0.

The Fort Mill girls’ tennis team dropped their second match of the season with a 5-1 loss to Spartanburg. Their only other loss on the season was also to Spartanburg. Winning for Fort Mill in the match was Siona Soman in three sets at No. 5 singles 6-2, 3-6, 10-8. Fort Mill is now 10-2 on the season and 6-2 in Region 2-5A.  

The Nation Ford girls’ volleyball team beat Lake Wylie 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-14) to improve to 23-4 overall on the season and 10-0 in Region 3-4A.

The Fort Mill boys’ volleyball team beat Spartanburg 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-10) to improve to 11-12 overall and 4-4 in Region 2-5A.

The Fort Mill girls’ volleyball team beat Spartanburg 3-0 (25-13, 25-8, 25-10) to improve to 15-6 overall and 5-2 in Region 2-5A.
