The Catawba Ridge swim team beat both Region 3-4A opponents South Pointe and Indian Land in a tri-meet held Thursday at the Fort Mill Aquatics Center.
Catawba Ridge boys beat South Pointe 118-42 and Indian Land 110-54. The Copperhead girls won 131-34 over South Pointe and beat Indian Land 99-70 in a lot closer competition.
The Copperheads won four of six relay events at the meet and had several winners. Individual winners for Catawba Ridge were:
Emerson Girard – girls’ 200-yard freestyle
Nolan Becker – boys’ 200-yard individual medley
Payton Roelandts – girls’ 100-yard freestyle
Alex Ritz – boys’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke
Ethan Curtis – boys’ 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke
The next scheduled meet for Catawba Ridge is Aug. 30 at the Rock Hill Aquatics Center against Fort Mill, York, Riverwalk Academy and South Pointe.
In other swimming action, Fort Mill beat Clover on the road in dual action. The Fort Mill boys won 118-52 and the girls won 109-54. Fort Mill won five of six relay events. Individuals winning for Fort Mill were:
Anna Kate Halligan – girls’ 200-individual medley and 500-yard freestyle
Caden Wolf – boys’ 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke
Jack Dollyhigh – boys’ 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke
Lillian Guthe – girls’ 50-yard freestyle
Max Reichert – boys’ 50-yard freestyle
Tate Preston – boys’ 100-yard butterfly
Isabella Byerly – girls’ 100-yard freestyle
Cadyn Henson – girls’ 100-yard breaststroke
