Audrey Wilson hits a home run in the Catawba Ridge game against Lancaster Thursday night.

Taking advantage of errors by the Lancaster Bruins, the Catawba Ridge softball team used timely hitting to take care of business with a 13-3 win.

Catawba Ridge had 11 hits as they scored in all but one of their innings improving to 7-1 on the season and 3-0 in Region 3-4A play. Lancaster helped the Copperheads out by making roughly 10 errors in the game.

“We are winning games we need to win,” said Catawba Ridge head coach Michael Kidd. “We are still looking at our lineup.”

Despite having played eight games, Kidd said he is close to getting the lineup he feels will best produce on the field. The Copperheads wasted no time producing Thursday evening at home against the Bruins.

Sarah Rocheleau got things started driving in Jaidyn Harris and Audrey Wilson in the bottom of the first with an RBI double. She would later score as well on an RBI single from Braylon Lawrence to put Catawba Ridge out early 3-0.

Things really took off for Catawba Ridge in the second inning scoring five runs on four hits. The big hit came with a two-run home run from Wilson knocking in Harris who doubled. Harris knocked in Sophia Barr who singled to lead the inning off. Jenna Gardner would hit a triple to score Kendra Murray who reached on an error.

Lancaster did have a decent inning in the top of the second scoring two runs on two hits off Copperheads starter Chloe Burger. Burger would go all five innings allowing three runs on three hits, while walking two and striking out eight batters. Lancaster scored their third run in the top of the fifth on a Copperheads’ error, the only one they would have in the game.

In the bottom of the third, Catawba Ridge scored three more runs on two hits with Harris getting her third hit of the game as she went 3-4 with an RBI. Two Lancaster errors aided the Copperheads with the runs.

The Copperheads were unable to put things away in the fourth inning, but did so in the fifth inning with two runs on two hits. Mia Kovacs would single to open the inning and another error allowed Wilson to get on as she was driven in by an RBI double from Rocheleau, who went 2-4 in the game with three RBI and two doubles.

Both Lawrence and Wilson had two RBI in the game as well as Wilson went 1-3 and Lawrence went 2-3. Barr also had two hits going 2-2 in the game.
