YORK – The Catawba Ridge Copperheads boys cross country team won the Region 3-4A title at York Comprehensive High earlier in the week.

The meet was held Thursday, Oct.  27 at the school and featured all teams from the region. The Copperheads won the boys team title with 30 points as they finished in a pack placing fourth through eighth all within 26 seconds of each other.

Leading the way for Catawba Ridge was Max Connetta finishing fourth in 17:32. Brady Laurin was right behind him in fifth at 17:33 and Jordan Kent was sixth in 17:48 for the Copperheads. Matthew Lopresti was seventh in 17:57 and Aiden Rogers rounded out the scoring in eighth at 17:58.

The Catawba Ridge girls finished third at the event with 56 points, while Northwestern won the girls title with 34 points.

Isabella Cardozo led the Copperheads finishing sixth in 20:41 and Alexandra Cardozo was eighth in 20:58. Shay Studley and Hayla Banish finished near each other in 11th and 13th respectively with times of 21:28 and 21:41, while Emberlyn Rosowski finished 19th overall in 22:41 to finish the scoring for Catawba Ridge.

Up next for the Copperheads is the 4A state qualifier Saturday, Nov. 5 at Newberry College.
