Fort Mill’s Liam Marriott helped to lead the Jackets to a win over Nation Ford in his doubles play.

After a nearly four-and-a-half-hour marathon, the Fort Mill boys’ tennis team clinched the Region 3-5A title beating rival Nation Ford.

Fort Mill won 4-3 as the match was forced to go into No. 1 doubles to secure a win. The Jackets improved to 11-2 overall and finished the region 11-1. Nation Ford finished the region at 10-2, which was also their overall record.

Nation Ford won both No. 1 and No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. Colt Mohler won at No. 1 singles for the Falcons 6-3, 2-6, 10-3 over Liam Marriott and Davis Glasco won at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-1 over Fort Mill’s Lucas Coelho.

Fort Mill won No. 3 through No. 5 singles as Jethin Bastin won 6-0, 6-1 over Shanmith Kamireddy at No. 3 singles. Ishaan Amjath won at No. 4 singles for the Jackets beating Jaideep Thaineni 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 and Sawyer Bryan won at No. 5 singles for Fort Mill 6-2, 6-0 over Finnegan Bridges for the Falcons.

Nation Ford won a third set tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles with Ohm Patel and Josh Assaad winning 6-3, 2-6, 12-10 over the Jackets’ Jackson Bradley and Brandon Behrmann. That forced a decisive No. 1 doubles match for both teams.

Both Marriott and Coelho for Fort Mill got some payback over their singles opponents as they teamed to beat Mohler and Glasco for Nation Ford in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-1).

Both teams have one more non-region match in the regular season before the playoffs start towards the end of the month.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ tennis team beat Clover 6-0 to improve to 8-7 overall and finish Region 3-5A play at 6-6.

The Fort Mill girls’ lacrosse team bounced back on Thursday beating rival Nation Ford 21-3 to clinch the Region 3-5A title. Fort Mill improved to 9-4 overall and 7-0 in region play. Nation Ford dropped to 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the region.

The Fort Mill boys’ lacrosse team beat Nation Ford 14-5 to finish their Region 3-5A schedule at 7-1 and are 12-3 overall. Fort Mill won 14-5 to sweep the season series against the Falcons. The Jackets tied with Clover as co-Region 3-5A champions with both achieving 7-1 record. Nation Ford finished the region with a 4-4 record and are 7-8 overall.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ lacrosse team lost to Clover 18-6 to fall to 3-11 overall and 1-6 in Region 3-5A.
