Catawba Ridge’s Wayden Uter returns a shot against Rock Hill on April 14.

Despite putting up a good fight, the Catawba Ridge boys’ tennis team were shut out by Rock Hill.

The Copperheads dropped to 7-7 overall and 5-6 in Region 3-5A play.

Catawba Ridge won 18 games making it look closer than the score seemed against the Bearcats.

In No. 1 singles, Ishaan Singh fell 6-1, 6-1 and in No. 2 singles Wayden Uter dropped two sets 6-2, 6-0 for the Copperheads.

Aahan Singh fell 6-2, 6-2 for Catawba Ridge at No. 3 singles, as did No. 4 singles Virat Bais 6-1, 6-1.

The final singles match saw No. 5 Andre Santana for the Copperheads fall 6-1, 6-2 and in doubles Spencer Epting and Noah Dreher fell 6-1, 6-4.

Catawba Ridge has one more region match left against Clover on April 16 on the road.

The Fort Mill boys’ tennis shutout Indian Land with a 6-0 win. Winning for Fort Mill was Liam Marriott 6-1, 6-3; Lucas Coelho 6-1, 6-3; Jethin Bastin 6-1, 6-2; Ishaan Amjath 6-0, 6-4; Jackson Bradley 6-0, 6-4; and in doubles Sawyer Bryan and Brandon Berkman 6-2, 6-1. Fort Mill improved to 10-2 overall and 10-1 in Region 3-5A.

The Nation Ford tennis team beat Clover 6-0 to improve to 10-1 overall on the season and in Region 3-5A.

The Fort Mill softball team fell to Clover 5-0 on the road dropping them to 2-4 in Region 3-5A and 8-10 overall. Fort Mill’s only hit came from Izzy Zook, who went 1-2.

The Nation Ford softball team beat Legion Collegiate Academy 9-3 to improve to 14-4 on the season. Jackie Knol went 2-4 with four RBI to lead the Falcons. Tori Baldino also had two hits in the game. Paizlei Ross got the win going four innings and allowing two runs on three hits, while walking four and striking out three.

The Nation Ford girls’ lacrosse team lost 17-6 to South Meck in non-region action to drop to 10-4 overall on the season.

The Catawba Ridge softball team beat Northwestern 11-0 to improve to 12-8 overall and 6-2 in Region 3-5A. B.G. Yates went 4-4 and got the win going six innings and allowing five hits and had eight strikeouts.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ soccer team beat Northwestern 7-0 to improve to 14-2-1 overall and 6-2 in Region 3-5A.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ soccer team beat Northwestern 4-2 to improve to 10-4 overall and 7-1 in Region 3-5A.

Late Monday, the Fort Mill boys’ lacrosse team fell to Clover on the road 12-7 to drop to 11-3 overall and 6-1 in Region 3-5A.
